TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Serving the Teachers Pay Teachers community since 2007 with both free and paid resources, I have been an upper elementary and middle school teacher for 35 years and I have loved every minute of it. For me, student engagement, quality content, academic rigor, and a teacher who cares are the keys to all successful classrooms.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I model my lessons on the idea that, more than ever in today's world, the focus and direction has to change in the class on a regular basis. Kids need to work hard, but it has to be work they enjoy doing AND that teaches them the bigger concepts that are so important to know as they move through life. The world is changing and ways of learning and working are too, and we as teachers have to help our students master these changes..

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I've served on so many committees and been involved in so many academic and sports programs that I cannot remember them all. I have been recognized for my service with many of them, but the greatest honor or award for me is when a student from the past contacts me to tell me that I had a positive and lasting impact on their life.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA, Political Science. Single and Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials K-12. MA, Humanities

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment."
