TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently a 2nd grade teacher. I taught Kindergarten for the past 4 years. Prior to that I taught in a Multi-age K-1-2 classroom for 12 years. I also have experience teaching after school intervention programs and have taught English Language Learners. Before becoming a teacher I was a stay at home mom and had a certified home day care. I have also worked at the YMCA for the past 18 years in a variety of pre-school programs and currently teach gymnastics classes to 3-5 year olds. MY TEACHING STYLE

Fun! Fun! Fun! : ) I believe children can learn while having fun! Not a day goes by without laughter! I like to say, "I get paid to play!" (We all know that is not really the case).

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am honored to be a teacher! A 2nd grade student gave me note each day that said I was the World's Best Teacher! (Does that count?) Voted "Mother of the Year" by my children! Ha ha!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Teaching is my second career. I earned an undergraduate degree in Communications and Marketing from Central Connecticut State University in 1985. I was a stay at home mom for many years and had a certified home day care. I went back to school and received a MAT from Rhode Island College in 2000. I am certified in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have 3 daughters ages 27, 25 and 22.. I am originally from Connecticut, but have lived in RI since 1986.
