TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I started teaching special education English in 2011 at a high school in Baltimore County. Recently I moved up to central Pennsylvania where I continue to teach a combination of self-contained/adaptive English classes as well as co-taught inclusion classes. I have a dual graduate degree in special education and secondary education and am certified in both special education and English 7-12.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I've spent the majority of my career teaching in self-contained special education settings and co-teaching in standard classes. My products are made to reach all learners; not through watering down the content, but through the presentation of the information. Vocabulary worksheets include visuals because most students benefit from the addition of appropriate and meaningful visual aids. My graphic organizers are made to chunk information in ways that help struggling students better understand the material. I love teaching special education and adore the students I work with. My passion is connecting with students who struggle in “standard” classrooms because they tend to learn differently from what we consider to be the average student.
