TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for 30 years. I have taught Biology I, Honors Biology I, Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, Biology II, and AP Biology.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach "commando" style. My students are tired at the end of my class because I push to fill their brain with as much knowledge as possible. I employ varying teaching strategies throughout the class to keep my students interested and on their toes. My strength as a teacher, and my love, involves the lab. I have my students in the lab at least twice a week, and more if possible.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In my years of teaching, I have been honored many times with local awards such as "Rotary Teacher of the Month", etc. I have been on many committees at the state level to write curricula and guidelines for the science courses taught in our state. I am consistently called upon to offer inservice activities in our school system. All of the above are very nice, but my favorite moments come from the students. I love the "light bulb" moments when I am teaching and see that students are catching on to the concepts. The best award comes when graduated students return for a visit and tell me how much my class has helped them.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

My undergraduate degree is in Biology. I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Specialist's Degree in Administration.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My teaching materials and products are the result of 30 years of experience. My materials are standards-based and emphasize inquiry and critical thinking skills. I offer a wide variety of materials that are solid in content, are visually attractive, and best of all, are ready to be copied and passed out to your students.
