Topic 12: Measure Lengths

These Smart Board slides can be used as a supplement to the enVision Math 2.0 Grade 1 lessons as a daily warm up, math "meeting," or end of lesson review. The slides do not match a particular lesson, but review concepts from the entire unit. I have used them as a warm up each day to expose my kids to concepts that will be on the Unit Assessment before the lesson that they are taught. Each slides comes with a blank "Number of the Day" box for you to enter the number of days that your students have been in school.

-HTO is the hundreds, tens, and ones to match the Number of the Day

-Draw H, T, and Os is to match the Number of the Day

-Matching Vocabulary - practice with words like shortest, longest, middle

-Circle the shorter / wider object

-Describe the lines - fill in the blank sentences using words like shorter, shortest, longer, longest

-Measure with Objects - use non-standard objects (cubes, paperclips) to model measurement; Slides 6 and 7 ask students to determine if an object was measured correctly and explain why or why not
