elementary immmigration critical literacy

This unit lists books/ activities for an immigration themed unit. Topics include immigration from Russia, Lebanon, China, and Italy. Upon examining elementary social studies texts, I realized that immigration was only briefly mentioned. This unit would be used to expand what is in a textbook by using children's literature.

I selected books and activities that would push critical thinking. There are also several other books listed that fall under the same theme for students, but have no activites for them. There is also a list of teacher resources.
