The amazing photography of Virtual Class Decor joins forces with my teacher side to make this seasonal Math Concept book! Not a regular old counting book, but one that you can use to assist students in reaching Common Core Math Goals.

Students will explore different ways to make a ten using manipulatives, and showing the math sentence on the following page. This is a great starter for enhancing the student ability to discuss their math work. It provides an opportunity to discuss and practice a concept using pictures. This is the perfect step between using the manipulatives and drawing the pictures yourself.

The pictures show addends using toasted and untoasted pumpkin seeds. It is easy to see the difference, and one pumpkin can usually come close to enough seeds for your entire class if you want to work along.

Seeds are placed in a pattern like a ten frame, but no ten frame is displayed. If you are using the Ten Frame, you may wish to draw one around the seeds while on display, to assist students. I like it without the ten frame, because I want them to learn to "see" it without the boxes displayed.

This book has a cover and 16 pages. The cover and pages have one photo each.
