Description
Do you celebrate every 10th day of school in your classroom? This is a great way to teach place value. After reading (paraphrasing to younger students) the Zero the Hero book by Joan Holub, you're ready to make your own zero the hero book! I have tailored this book to fit my planned units. However, the beauty of this book is you can adjust it to fit YOUR unit schedule. We talk about Go Away Big Green Monster! by Ed Emberley during the week of the 40th day of school, so we make ours into a big green monster. If your unit during this week is If you Give a Mouse a Cookie, you can make your Zero the Hero into a giant cookie, or a cute mouse with ears, whiskers and a tail. If you talk about The Gingerbread Man during the week of the 80th day instead of the 60th, just switch the gingerbread master to this week and use the ‘8’ to make a 80th day gingerbread man. The possibilities are endless! We use cotton balls to make white fluffy clouds on some and glitter on the 100th day to make our fireworks
sparkle! Children love being creative with their Zero and so can you. I have included three different number fonts so you can use the ones that work the best for your class and make it YOUR own. Use it as a book or just send home these adorable pages as you make them. This pack includes special notes to send home on the 50th and 100th days of school. Also included are 100th day counting to 100 snack pages!
