Year-round Art Appreciation Program

Art Year-Round is a project that could be added to any K-8 classroom. It takes very little from the teacher and adds a great educational value to any program.

By adding art to your classes, children will become familiar with important artists and masterpieces, and these will be part of their every day life.

The art appreciation pack includes 80 letter-size posters to be shown in class in sets of two paintings every week. The first time an artist is introduced there is a self portrait or photograph of the artist.

The set comes in a compressed (zip) folder with two documents in PDF formant.

The paintings present a wide variety of styles. They are arranged by themes suggested to fit in the school year calendar. The teacher can also select an artist that would enrich certain unit in the program, or choose the posters randomly.

The pictures are numbered to help the teacher find the artist, name of the painting, and also some additional information included in this pack.

This project also includes instructions for four different activities, presenting the “how to” tips to use these materials. These activities can take as little as one minute a day!

By presenting art to your students you will be:

· Offering multiple samples of art work.

· Enriching their creative expression.

· Developing their visual perception skills,

· Developing sensibility towards beauty and art.

· Promoting appreciation towards diversity of color, shapes, composition, techniques, textures and styles.

· Promoting observation of themes of interest in different times and contexts.
