This poster focuses on the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and her obsession with pumpkins! This is a good poster to hang up during Fall and to introduce students to contemporary art, Japanese art and/or pumpkins. I usually put this up in my classroom in October and use it as both a standalone poster and as a tool for research activities. It also makes a great lesson starter, and works in the virtual classroom too! Suitable for Grades 3+.
Teaching tip: I like to get my students to choose their own vegetable to turn into art, and inspired by Kusama, decorate them with polka dots or another repetitive pattern of their choice!
