Create a fun communal project for the library or classroom called the ‘obliteration reading nook’ inspired by the artist, Yayoi Kusama. The “obliteration reading nook’ is an interactive art project that can be installed in the library or classroom. The furniture is all painted WHITE, representing a blank canvas to be ‘obliterated,’ changed, by placing brightly colored dot-shaped stickers all over it.

Materials Needed

1. Second hand furniture: book case, two chairs, old books, a small plastic globe, white carpet, paper lanterns, white pillow, a plastic white pumpkin, i.e. anything that can be typically found in a school’s library or reading nook. If it wasn’t white, we spray-painted it white

2. Bull’s Eye 123 Primer.

3. Bright colored, dot-shaped stickers.
