Are your students required to show written comprehension proficiency?

Do your students need to be able to compose text in order to move reading levels?

Transferring this oral response into a written response gets tricky. Students often struggle with putting the words on paper. Implementing rubrics and checklists offer students a visual guide and check to completing a written response. Teachers need to refer to the rubric as a guide and model how to use the rubric to improve the written response quality.

Using rubrics as a self-check, partner-check and in teacher/student conferences is also another way to implement. This will help students comprehend the components of the rubric which will help them in future written responses.
