This lesson provides students with a step-by-step guide on how to write an essay. Instruction includes: how to organize a three concept thesis, how to gather supporting evidence, how to properly punctuate quotations and citations (using MLA style), how to use an ellipsis, how to paraphrase, and how to write a body paragraph.

This lesson is a Smart Board file of 24 pages. It is also available as a Power Point or Nearpod upon request.

The lesson is designed to address the Common Core standards for writing an essay using multiple sources. This lesson is also aligned with the New York State Common Core Regents standards for a multi-source essay.

The essay format provided may be applied to nearly any topic.
