Writing: TTQA - Turn The Question Around Poster (English & Español)
- Zip
Description
One of the most frustrating things a teacher sees when grading writing of any kind is when students do not properly respond to the question or writing prompt. Usually, the response is a very painful to read sentence fragment.
My attempt to address this is a somewhat simple strategy; TTQA: Turn the Question Around. When employed and reviewed religiously, it is my hope that your students begin to respond to any writing prompt in the proper manner.
Included in the resource
There are color-coded "helper" anchor charts/posters that furnish more examples for students to use as a model. I created simple assessments that help struggling writers get the most out of this strategy. One is a little more scaffolded than the other. Choose the one that meets your students' needs. There are Word and PowerPoint files in this resource so that you are able to edit as you need.
Distance learning tip!!!! Use the KAMI app to edit your PDF to make it editable so that it can be used in systems like Google Classroom, Schoology, and Canvas (your district might already have this app integrated). Even simpler, students can annotate the file directly, after downloading it to Google Drive (move immediately out of the downloads folder to one you designate), WITHOUT you having to create text fields.
Printing
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are intended to be printed as large posters, interactive notebooks pages for reference, or displayed on an IWB. The poster dimensions 24"x31" (scaled up from a letter-size format). It will print perfectly on regular copy paper. Make sure that you have your print settings to fit the document to print before you actually print.
Editing
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is a high-resolution vector-based illustration created in graphic design software (Adobe Illustrator). This file cannot be edited in any office software (ex, Word, PowerPoint). However, I discovered that you can somewhat successfully use Inkscape, a FREE vector-based program, to open and edit the PDFs included in the download. Although you will most likely need to make some adjustments to the file after you do. This will enable you to use vector-based graphics for cleaner anchor charts/posters. You can edit the PDFs in Acrobat DC to an extent.
PowerPoints
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I understand that many teachers prefer to create anchor charts in PowerPoint and many TPTers have become used to files in resources being DOC or PPT for editing after the fact. Unfortunately, I am not one of those teachers. ALL of my files are created first in Adobe Illustrator and saved to PDF. The PDFs are then converted to PowerPoints. Any PowerPoint, converted from the PDF may have formatting issues, primarily with the backgrounds and text being converted to images. There will also be missing fonts since I cannot legally include them separately.
