Description

This workbook contains practice sets that specifically focus on developing Common Core writing skills. Students will have practice writing in response to literary and informational passages. Students will write personal narratives, short stories, opinion pieces, and explanatory essays. Students will also complete research activities. The wide range of tasks cover all the key Common Core Writing standards.

Many of the writing tasks also include hints, planning activities, and checklists. These will help guide students on how to approach writing tasks, and teach them the key features of strong writing.

The workbook is divided into 10 sets of four tasks each. This makes them perfect for homework, classroom activities, or weekly skill development.

The tasks can also be used to improve student results on state tests. Students will gain the skills and experience needed to perform well on writing tasks. The tasks involving responding to texts will help students learn to analyze and evaluate texts effectively, and give students experience providing written answers. This workbook can be used to help prepare for the PARCC, Smarter Balanced (SBAC), FSA, or any standardized test based on the CCSS.
