Description

Grab a notebook, loose-leaf paper, or your digital device and start writing at home!

These writing prompts are designed to build writing stamina, help students develop a lifelong love of writing, and learn some cool writing strategies along the way.

They are quick, simple and stress-free.

HOW TO USE THE CARDS:

  1. Have students grab a notebook or digital device to write with. Feel free to have them decorate the cover of their writer's notebook to personalize it!
  2. Give students a prompt each day. Have them copy the prompt at the top of a clean page. Add the date and start writing!
  3. After writing, invite students to reread their writing and make any changes they see fit.
  4. Try getting students to write for 20 minutes at a time. If they start at 3 minutes, that's okay! Shoot for 4 minutes the next day.
  5. Students can add to any of their writing in their journal each day. They may spend 10 minutes on a new entry and another 10 minutes adding ideas to a previous day's work. Writing is continual.
