Writing Narratives Package

This package breaks writing narratives into the critical elements in order to scaffold students to writing strong stories. It is broken down into: setting, problems, characters, plot, good beginnings and word choice.

When I use this package I typically focus on one element each day in order to create an in depth understanding. I encourage students to write about what they know. I have them begin with a setting they know better than anyone and base their character off of someone they know really well or themselves. My goal is to create an authentic writing experience where each student is the expert.

Each element includes a definition, an example, a teacher modelling activity and an independent activity.
