Are you looking for a quick and simple way to assess the grammar and mechanics of your students' writing? This rubric is just what you need! Assess students on a four point scale in the following categories: capitalization, punctuation, spelling, word usage, and fragments/run-on sentences. Easily convert the number of points into a percentage for a grade, or simply use this as a way to provide meaningful feedback to your students.
This rubric is written in student friendly language so children can truly learn what it means to write with proper grammar and mechanics. Use it with fiction and nonfiction writing.
