Description

Writing narrative hooks that engage the reader is a great writing skill. PowerPoint lesson focuses on writing hooks using three strategies to lead into a story and hook the reader, with student and professional examples. Three different writing strategies to engage the reader, grab their attention, and create great beginnings for a narrative account or expository essay, and will help students overcome writer's block, especially when preparing for state writing tests. Includes a slide with several other strategies for narrative hooks students can try as well, and a writing practice assignment to put the strategies learned to good use, and a slide for reflection on how the writing hooks worked. For use in a standards-based writing program which supports Common Core State Standards. Please see preview.
