The writing conference is the heart of teaching writing in any classroom. Especially for those using a workshop approach. A writing conference takes place between the student and the teacher, hopefully at least weekly. Conferring with students is often considered the best way for a teacher to authentically teach a student.

Conferences should be short (2 to 5 minutes), and specific (goal focused). They can occur anytime during the writing process, which allows for the teacher to have the flexibility to address a wide range of skills, strategies and concepts based on individual student needs.

The main goal of conferencing with students is to help them become independent writers.

These forms are a great way to help you!
