Writing Assignment: Write a Movie Review. Film Critique Handout w/ Rubric

This is a handout for a fun and creative writing assignment, in which students will write their own film review. Page one explains the function of a film review, and the kind of content that should be included in one. The content should be focused on evaluating the film, rather than summarizing. A couple website links are also included so that students can go read some current reviews and get a better understanding of what a good review is before they create their own.

Formatting requirements are included in the assignment handout as well: 400-600 words, double-spaced, title, 12-point font. A rubric is included on the second page of the handout. The grading criteria include the following: content, organization, mechanics & grammar, and language, voice and tone. This handout is all you need to give students to get them started on their next assignment of writing a movie review.
