Writing An Autobiography--Includes Rubric

This product was designed specifically to help Middle and High School students understand what elements go into writing an autobiographical essay. It includes:

•Pre-Writing Information Worksheet-- This is a brainstorming worksheet where students collect and write down information about themselves to include in their papers (3 pages)

•Letter to parents explaining this autobiography assignment (you can use this letter directly, or as a guide to write your own if you feel the need to send a letter home)

•Autobiography Outline/Template for students to guide them through the writing process (Intro, body, conclusion)--5 pages

•Bio Poem with example poem (I had my students write their own, type it out and mount on to construction paper to hang up in the classroom for the duration of our autobiography unit)

•Essay requirements page and rubric (2 pages)

I've had my students write a 5 page paper in the past, but I left blank lines for the page length part on the rubric so you can fill it in as you see fit for your students.
