Writer's Workshop Folder Decoration Letter

Have your students ever struggled for topics to write about during Writer’s Workshop? This idea will help! Choose between two letters to send home to parents asking to decorate a writer’s workshop folder. You can either send home a letter that asks parents to decorate two pieces of paper that will be put on the cover of a folder, or send home an actual folder. The letter encourages your student to work with his/her family to add mementos such as photos, ticket stubs, stickers, cartoons, or anything else to a folder. The student will return the folder and be able to use it told hold Writer’s Workshop papers for the rest of the school year. As they get it out each day they have instant inspiration!
