Description

This is a great stand-alone project that involves research, oral presentation, important historical figures, and role-play. I use this in my comparative civilizations 12 class. Students love the creative take on researching important people in history and go all out with the costumes, and use of dialect and mannerisms while giving quality presentations. This can he used in any social studies or English classes. I have students peer mark and provide comments and I assess the presentations as well. I often set up with a podium in the library and take pictures to create a display later (great for yearbook submission). This year I am creating a task sheet for the writing class as well and we are making it a press conference where the writing students are reporters (question period at the end) and they write articles on the event. If students have trouble choosing I provide a starter list of possible influential people. So many ways to modify this- limit it to a certain time period or event in history, battle of the gods & goddesses...
