Description

This is the introductory version of this webquest. Check out the separate, more advanced version here:World Language - Navigating WordReference.com Webquest - ADVANCED version

**Even though this webquest is designed for a Spanish class, the same activity can apply in ANY World Language classroom. The document can be edited, so "Spanish" can be changed to any language.

In my Spanish classes, it is forbidden to use translation sites such as Google Translate simply because not enough context is given to select the correct translation. Instead, I teach my students to use www.WordReference.com. However, this site can be tricky since it gives you so much information about the word.

Therefore, this is a handy webquest that introduces students to WordReference, and teaches them how to understand and use the site. The very bottom serves as a written contract to use only www.wordreference.com and ask for help if there is still confusion!

This was especially helpful in my Spanish 1 class. Also, there is a WordReference app that works very similarly to the website.

Check out my other Webquest with www.CareerBuilder.com so students also see how important knowing Spanish is in the workforce!
