I use this first thing in the morning. I present the new word and talk about it a bit; using it in context. Then direct students to the dictionaries and thesauruses and allow them to complete their sheets. At the end of the week, students complete the quiz. Then at the end of the month, we use a crossword puzzle to review the words we have covered. You may want to include a mini-lesson on the following topics:
-How to use a dictionary
-How to use a thesaurus
-Synonyms
-Antonyms
