Description

These 44 Word-O-Rama (similar to Boggle) task cards are a fun way to practice phonics skills. Each card requires students to find words using a specific consonant blend. Students will get more concentrated practice if they are only allowed to count consonant blend words specific to each card. Another option is to allow them to write down all the words they find and then to identify the consonant blend words they wrote and score them double. These cards can be used in so many ways:

These cards/slides can be used in so many ways:

  • At a literacy center
  • For fast finishers
  • With partners or small groups (use the same card, score only unique words)
  • As morning work (display for the whole class)
  • Online using the included Google Slides
  • Or any time you have a few spare minutes.

Students can play with or without a time limit. They can record their answers on the included answer sheets or on notebook paper. Alternatively, you can save paper by having students answer on personal whiteboards or tablets/Chromebooks. Cards are color-coded for easy reference

Black and white versions of the cards are also included.

When using the Google slides, students can type their words directly on the slide (in the yellow scorecards) and then add up their points to find their total score.

Included in this product:

  • 44 consonant blend cards: 2 cards for each of these consonant blends: bl, br, cl, cr, dr, fl, fr, gl, gr, pl, pr, sc, sk, sl, sm, sn, sp, sq, st, str, tr
  • 4 blank template cards/slides so you can create your own boards
  • Cover Card + 3 Challenge Cards
  • 4 scoring key cards for reference when not using the included answer sheets
  • Half-page student answer/score sheets
