Women's History Month Research Project with Choice Board and Graphic Organizer

Throughout history and across most cultures in the world, women's roles and accomplishments have often been overlooked and underrepresented. Women have made history for centuries, and they're still making history today. This student-led biography project will open your students' eyes to the contributions of women as actors, athletes, artists, scientists, musicians, dancers, public figures, and more. The vast majority of listed individuals were alive during at least part of the 20th century, and many of them are still alive today.

This resource includes:

• A one-page reading about the history of Women's History Month and International Women's Day, which both take place in March.
• A list of more than 530 women who have contributed to the fields of science, TV, movies, sports, art and design, writing, politics, civil rights activism, and more.
• A research outline where students can organize information they find about their woman while researching. This outline can be used as a stand-alone graphic organizer or in conjunction with the project choice board.
• A project choice board which describes 9 creative projects students can complete to share their research about their individual. Projects are largely open-ended and range from audiovisual formats to written pieces to several projects that involve hand-created artwork. Allow your students to choose the project that best fits their their personal creative strengths or their woman's life experiences.
