Description

This is a Women's History Month biography genre unit and lap book project.

This unit focuses on the following skills: story elements and vocabulary of the biography genre, the legacy a person leaves behind, analyzing biographical characters and their unique traits, compare and contrast, research and note-taking.

  • Activities that highlight 12 famous women (but can be used with any biography)
  • Photo Tutorial explaining how to assemble a lap book
  • "What is a Biography?" Mini-Poster for building background
  • QR Code with link to a site for researching famous women for Women's History Month (you'll need a QR code reader app and a mobile device to use)
  • Assorted Graphic Organizers
  • Thinkmarks to reinforce looking for examples of character traits within the narrative of a biography during guided or independent reading
  • 12 Trading Cards with QR Codes which, when scanned, will go to a kid-safe website for research
  • Blank Trading Cards for additional famous people
  • Blank HEROINES Acrostic Flap Book to have students write one thing they learned about these famous women for each letter in the word
