    Description

Do your students need more practice writing numbers to match TEN FRAMES 1-20? This WINTER WRITE THE ROOM BUNDLE math center is great practice for writing the number to match the ten frames shown for numbers 1-20. It can be used in a small group setting or as a whole class activity by showing the picture cards on your smart board with a document camera while students record the matching numbers on the recording sheet provided after discussing each ten frame(s). This BUNDLE includes "write the room" activities for snowmen, polar bears, penguins, snowflakes, hot chocolate, and mittens.

The following description is the same for each of the six resources included:

These write the room resources include four pages of numbered winter picture cards in color with a total of 20 picture cards per theme (snowmen, polar bears, penguins, snowflakes, hot chocolate, and mittens) . Each numbered picture card has a ten frame filled in to represent each number 1-20. Teachers should copy the picture cards on cardstock (for durability and saving for future years) or plain paper, laminate (if desired), cut apart, and then post the picture cards around the room. If you don't want students walking around the room, the picture cards can be put in a center such as at the writing center or in a pocket chart.

Depending on how many cards you want to use or depending on what numbers you are working on, you can post/use cards with ten frames 1-10, 11-20, or 1-20.

There are two recording sheets. One is for picture cards for ten frames 1-10 and one is for picture cards with ten frames 11-20. Students can complete one or both recording sheets when in their center.

Students will get a recording sheet with boxes to write 10 numbers or both recording sheets can be stapled together when working on all 20 numbers. Students will roam the room to find the picture cards. After finding a card, the student will look at the number on the card, find the matching number on their recording sheet, and write the number (numeral) to match the ten frame on the picture card. Example: Snowman card number seven has a ten frame showing two mittens, so students will write the number (numeral) 2 on their recording sheet in the number seven box.

Answer keys are provided for the recording sheets either as a self-check for students or for the teacher to have an answer key to quickly check papers.

***There are eight total pages in each of the six resources including two answer keys: 4 picture card pages, 2 recording sheets, and 2 answer keys to the recording sheets.

The PREVIEWS show every page included.

This activity is great for a math center.

I hope your students have fun with these "Write the Room" activities for ten frames.

    Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
