Winter Seek and Spell Sensory Literacy Bins and Valentines
Description
I create mini sensory literacy bins that encourage the students to look for letters to spell the word of the hidden object in the bin. Use these winter and Valentine word cards and recording sheets to create your own mini literacy centre bins.
Cut out the cards with either the lowercase or uppercase words and pictures on them. Place them on a table with those objects mentioned hidden in the sensory bin
Set 1 — Toy penguin, fake snowflake (snow), tree, polar bear, fake ice cube, and a pom pom snowball (ball)
Set 2 — Use mini doll clothes: boots, coat, pants, mitt, scarf, and a hat
Set 3 — Heart, bug, Valentine, candy, friend (mini dolls), flower
Any fun sensory filler can be used to fill the bin. Students need to find the item hidden in the sensory bin as well as the hidden letter manipulatives and find the matching word card on the table to then spell the word. After building the word, they copy it onto their recording sheet. I like to do these as mini sensory bins, but you could also combine a whole set into your large sensory table with the cards mixed in too which would make it more challenging than finding one word per mini sensory bin.
