Description
I wrote this story for my class to teach the "Four Kinds of Voices" lesson. I knew the subject itself wasn't as exciting as some, so I made it interactive, using a "hello" song they knew already, and making the main character a dinosaur. They LOVED it. I customized it for the class so some of the students and teachers at our school were the main character. After I read it to my first kindergarten class, the class applauded and one kid exclaimed, "I love it! I love it!" So I turned it into a resource you can use!
This resource includes two versions of the story in PowerPoint.
- Original Version - this PowerPoint file is ready to go. All you need to do is a hello song the kids know or teach them one really quick (search "hello song" on youtube, and you can find one easily). This version is also available in PDF in this purchase because there is no editing required for this version.
- Customizable Version - this PowerPoint file requires a little bit of work ahead of time, but your kids will love it. You will insert names of two boys, the librarian, secretary, principal and music teacher. You can also insert the title or first line of the lyrics of your hello song if you want. Instructions are simple and included in the purchase for how to customize this. There is no PDF of this version because it has to be edited for use.
At the end of the story, there are a few discussion questions to reinforce their learning. After this story, all students in my classes successfully performed in all four voices on command.
This story takes 10-15 minutes to read, depending on the song and discussions.
I would suggest this story for Pre-K up to early 2nd grade.
