What educators are saying

4th grade students loved practicing and performing this reader's theatre for kindergarten students before holiday break. Very engaging! It was easily modified to fit our group size and kindergarten students were able to play the parts of the animals.
I love this script for around the holidays. There are various parts at different levels, which makes it easy to differentiate.

Description

Looking for a fun readers theater for the holiday season? Your kids will enjoy this original script, as a readers theater or as a skit. This is not too long and not too short for your students. It includes different levels of speaking parts— which should include almost everyone! This is an original readers theater that I created for my own reading group! My students had so much fun with this!

What’s the gist?
Rudolph is missing and it's Christmas Eve! Yet nobody knows where Rudolph is! Apparently, he was never lost. He was out doing a good deed the whole time. Luckily, everyone pitches in, and Mrs. Claus and the elves find him just in time for the big trip.

I wrote this so it could be performed as a class readers theater or radio theater—-But if you have the enthusiasm and ambition to turn it into a skit or play with props, I think it would be a really fun performance.

A readers theater is an engaging learning tool for practicing and assessing fluency, as well as comprehension; and as a venue for performing in front of an audience, for building confidence in public speaking. When everyone gets to play a part in a story, they learn to work together as a team.

This script has 13 parts, of which 7 are actual speaking parts. The top 5 characters have the larger speaking parts. This will allow for some differentiation in your classroom.

I had fun creating this script, so I really hope your kids have fun reading and performing it!

Note: If you have students who love readers theaters, here's one that's equally fun! Suitable for first graders: Snowman Readers Theater
