Description

Based on the book Where Does the Garbage Go? by Paul Showers, this ready-to-go read aloud resource includes a lesson plan and 8 fun and engaging Earth Day activities to create a greener classroom!

MINIMAL TO ZERO PLANNING NEEDED! As a teacher, one of the things we most lack is time. I always wanted to teach meaningful, intentional lessons every day for my students, but could not because there was not enough time in the day. This was created to be your time saver!

This printable and digital interactive read aloud lesson includes content and language objectives that tie with multiple Common Core State Standards and a detailed teacher script for before, during, and after reading. The lesson plan tells you when to stop to discuss with your whole class or through turn and talk to help students deepen their understanding about the story that focuses on the learning objective. You can use this as a whole class or in small groups. All you will need to teach this lesson will be the book itself!

Where Does the Garbage Go? By Paul Showers Summary:

This is an informational text all about garbage. Where does garbage come from? Where does it go? Do all materials end up in the trash can? Are there ways we can reduce trash? Find out the answers to these questions through this text!

This book and lesson plan offers a wonderful opportunity for your students to learn about garbage! We all throw garbage away daily, but many of us probably don't think about what happens to it afterward. This read aloud can lead to insightful discussions about the impacts garbage has had on the environment and is a call to action for your students! Some of the extension activities help students to think about and become aware of different ways they can help the environment.
