When I was Eight and Not My Girl, written by Christy Jordan-Fenton and Margret Pokiak-Fenton and illustrated by Gabrielle Grimard, depicts the struggles an Inuit girl experiences while attending a northern residential school and the difficulties she faces once she returns home. This is a younger child's version of the novel, Fatty Legs and A Stranger at Home.
