Description
This standalone Easel Activity focuses on names that are not capitalized in the English language, specifically directions, elements, types of plants and animals, diseases, and seasons. After a brief introduction, third, fourth, or fifth grade students complete a series of interactive practice activities with thumbs-up/thumbs-down, a drag and drop activity, and highlighting.
Note: This resource is 100% digital, and students need gmail accounts to access it. No print materials are included. Watch the video preview to get a better look.
What’s Included:
- teacher directions and an answer key (remove before assigning)
- directions for using tools
- brief direct instruction
- five sentences for which students give thumbs-up (capitalized correctly) or thumbs down (not capitalized correctly), as well as answers for checking
- a drag and drop activity
- an activity for which they must highlight words that should be capitalized
Oral directions are also provided. Kids just push the sound icon.
If you'd like a more traditional approach, try this set of capitalization resources. Kids learn what not to capitalize through a PowerPoint presentation. Then they practice with worksheets.
Enjoy teaching capitalization rules!
