SELF-GRADING = MAJOR TIME SAVER + IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK! SUPER INTERESTING TO STUDENTS!

In this WebQuest Practice Test #8, students are guided, step-by step through these primary and secondary sources, responding to a variety of question items related not just to the content but to the skills outlined in the College and Career Ready Standards: 1) A scientific and historical examination of pandemics throughout time: "The History of Infectious Diseases and Attempts to Eradicate Them," 2) Historical primary source documents showing the campaign to eradicate smallpox as well as push-back from anti-vaccination activists in posters, cartoons, documents..., 3) "Our World in Data" charts, statistics, graphs about vaccination, 4) National Geographic entertaining, short video about how a duel led to a major discovery about germs, 5) Finally, a list of pros and cons for and against vaccination (just to see the two sides). They practice their literacy and critical thinking skills in multiple subject areas (science, history, ethics, health, current events, math, debate, etc.) to answer some SBAC, PARCC, STAAR style questions (multiple choice, multiple select, short answer, longer written response, etc.) Very interesting theme that teaches history, science, and current events too. SELF-GRADING = MAJOR TIME SAVER!

You and your students are in good hands and will be SO READY for any ELA assessment thrown your way because I have ten years experience as a contracted ELA Assessment Writer. Anyone can write a test, but it's not as easy as it looks, and it takes skill to do it right. And how awesome is this self-grading thing? So awesome!

ALIGNS TO SO MANY ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS STANDARDS

Incorporates multiple standards including ALL 10 reading informational text standards, PLUS literacy in social studies and history, literacy in science and technical subjects, interpreting diagrams, charts, statistics, citing text including primary sources, as well as listening & viewing. All the texts tie together to give a well-rounded, high-interest view of what life was like for homesteaders on the prairie. The test takes about 30 minutes.

EASY DISTANCE LEARNING ON ANY DEVICE: Students will be using an online Google Form to take a self-grading test which guides them to access several authentic, safe, informative sources online. The reading will be thorough, but the way it is set up will feel very manageable to students and not be overwhelming. These have been tested on a variety of students to get all the kinks out. The kids told me how much they liked this one! For real!
