Description

Through the development of a Warrior Kid Leadership essay, students practice the expository and persuasive writing process while writing about the central theme of leadership in the story. These 12 writing lesson activities build on the previous day's writing skill and include helpful tools such as graphic organizers, sentence starter banks, and brainstorming webs. Activities cover topics such as creating a thesis statement, supporting a thesis, elaborating on ideas, organization, and creating attention grabbing leads. This unit can be easily adapted to fit either the expository or persuasive writing styles. At the end of this unit, students will have crafted a thorough essay that can be presented to others in the form of a speech.
