What educators are saying

They were engaged with this resource, and it helped move their thought process along in the right direction.
I included War of the Worlds in my Science Fiction unit to demonstrate how people used to listen to stories before television and streaming. This helped keep my students on task while we listened and helped them identify elements for their own podcasting project.

Description

October 30, 1938: Orson Welles airs his now famous War of the Worlds radio play and hysteria overtakes America. Or did it? This webquest leads students through informational text to discover the historical truth and context about what happened that crazy night.

This resource includes both a student webquest form and an answer key.

NOTE: You can also get this webquest PLUS a full Common Core aligned lesson plan with lots of other activities in my store. Just look for "War of the Worlds Radio Broadcast - Lesson Plan."
