War of 1812 Simulation

In this simulation, students will explore the causes, key events, and effects of the War of 1812. Students will play as a merchant in the early 1800s who experiences interference with their trade, prompting them to join the military.  Through 7 rounds students will need to strategize, make choices, analyze primary sources, watch short videos, and hopefully experience some luck to make it through the war.  The Google Slides provided will guide you and the students through each round which has a combination of the following activities: 

• Dice rolling or decision making 
• Trivia questions
• Breaking news articles 
• Primary source analysis 
• Notes 
• Videos
• Running point totals

This simulation will take 2 full days to complete in class, with an additional day to complete the creative writing assignment.

There is NO PREP required for this simulation and there are digital and print options for student handouts included.
