What educators are saying

Great resource! Clear explanations that helped students understand what their stories needed to include to be considered horror stories.
This was great to use and help the students to develop their horror stories. These were actually the best writing pieces my guys had produced thus far. Thank you so much for the great resource.

*PLEASE NOTE: Included in this product are detailed lesson plans, worksheets and handouts required for the three days.

DAY ONE: Students start planning their horror story, with teaching opportunities for looking at elements of a story, developing characters setting and understanding plot structure.
Included Worksheets:
- Elements of a Story Handout
- Character and Setting Worksheet
- Developing the Plot Worksheet

DAY TWO: Students write in class. We often set writing as a homework task, but spending a whole lesson writing in class time can be an extremely beneficial task as it gives you, the teacher, the opportunity to work with individual students and provides a focused environment for students to work. *Obviously, if time does not permit, you could assign this for homework.
Included Worksheets:
- Self-Checklist Worksheets

DAY THREE: Students share their draft stories with their peers and they review, comment on and edit each other’s work. This is a beneficial exercise for students to learn to be constructively critical and for them to see what you look for in written work.
Included Worksheets:
- Peer Editing Worksheets
- Marking Rubric
