    Description

NOTE:  If you prefer this same bundle in a GOOGLE APPS (Google Slides / Google Docs) format to prevent you from having to fix formatting issues after converting, you can grab one HERE.)

This is a bundle of my entire product line on WRITING INTRODUCTIONS & CONCLUSIONS.

The bundle includes a POWERPOINT PRESENTATION with practice (and answers) and lots of explicit examples embedded throughout, and to accompany the presentation is an editable fill-in STUDENT REFERENCE SHEET (notes page) for students to complete during the presentation. I have found that by providing students with a reference sheet to complete during the presentation, they remain better engaged with the lesson.  In addition, those reference sheets serve as a great study guide for my ASSESSMENT, which is included in this bundle.

Please note that the presentation is designed as a UNIT-OF-STUDY, not a drive-by, one-day, "spray-n-pray" lesson.  I take my writing instruction slow, and I follow a natural progression, so we don't start writing conclusions until we have mastered introductions.  The presentation is basically a 2-for-1 in that you have a part 1 to teach introductions and a part 2 to teach conclusions.  I spend about a week working on introductions, and once students are comfortable writing their own introductions, I jump back into the presentation to teach conclusions. Once students can write effective introductions, the conclusions go much quicker.

Along with the presentation and reference sheets, I am including all 5 of my practice WORKSHEETS (3 for introductions and 2 for conclusions; all with answer keys) for students to practice during the study.  For added practice, I am including my list of 123 all-purpose WRITING PROMPTS.  I like to use those prompts as bell-ringers during my unit of study.  I simply copy a prompt from the list, present it on my Promethean Board, and give students 5 minutes to compose an introduction (or conclusion) for it.

Finally, you'll also get my set of 2 color-coordinated ANCHOR CHARTS. I have the charts printed and laminated for display during the unit of study, but I also print them for students to file behind their "references" tab of their ELA binders.
