Vocal Discovery- 4 types of voices

This powerpoint is a perfect tool for discussing/discovering the 4 types of human voices with young students: speaking, shouting, whispering, singing. I used this with my pre-k, kinder and first grade classes. We discussed various occasions we use the different voices then I had them repeat phrases after me using the types of voice. At the end, we all discussed/discovered that music is all around us and that people sing their whole lives even if they're not in music class- in the car, in the shower, at Christmas time, Happy Birthday, etc. I asked if they've ever heard someone who can't sing very well- "my mom can't sing and she gets so embarrassed!!" Then I explained that my job is to help everyone find and improve their singing voices so they can sing beautifully their whole lives. I have really seen development in motivation and awareness since this lesson!
