Resources will now be available in Google Drive so you can edit materials as needed! So far I have units 9 and 10 available.
Student Worksheets: Each new word is used in a sentence full of context clues along with an accompanying visual. The students closely read the sentence in order to guess the definition of the new word (CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.4). There is a space for students to write down the actual definition and to write an original sentence using the word. The last part of the worksheet is a fill-in-the-blank paragraph to practice using the new words.
PDF Presentation: I go through the worksheets with the students so I've included a PDF with the sentences, visuals, and actual definitions. Each word has two pages: the first is the sentence and visual, the second is the definition and visual. This makes it easy to go through the words as a class and to make sure everyone gets the same easy-to-understand definition.
Word Wall: For each word I've combined the word, definition, visual, and sample sentence all on one poster. Just print and hang the posters for a quick reference throughout the unit.
Antonyms Crossword Puzzle: One for each unit of ten words. The vocabulary words are the clues and the antonyms are the answers used to fill in the crossword puzzle. This can be used if students finish other work early, as an assignment on it's own, as homework, or as extra credit. I've also created two versions of each puzzle - one with hints and one without so you can easily differentiate. For an added challenge, I've included a blank template for students to try to create their own.
Quiz: The quiz contains matching and original sentence creation. If the students can match the words to the definitions and can write a sentence using the word - they have a good understanding of the newly acquired vocabulary.
Links to pre-made Quizlet and Kahoot!. The Quizlet links are included on the student worksheets as a short url and as a QR code so students can easily access them. The Kahoot! links are located in the teacher file.
