What educators are saying

My ESOL students loved this! This really helped them understand the standard/s on which we are working.
I used this to introduce vivid verbs to my third grade students. They kept one thesaurus per table to use at writing time for the rest of their year.

Description

This is a thesaurus I created just for vivid verbs. Replace all your dead verbs with more vivid ones to make your writing sparkle!
The thesaurus contains 53 pages.

This is a great resource for any age student (including adults).

*After a mini-lessons on vivid verbs, students will be able to use this resource to revise their verbs. (Have them circle all their verbs in their rough draft with a colored pencil. Then they can use the thesaurus to replace their dead verbs with more vivid ones!)

The table of contents contains the following verbs:

Clumsy Movements
Dancing Movements
Entered, Exited
Fast movements
Fell
Fought
Getting or Retrieving an Object
Got Dressed
Got Quiet, Stopped or Having Trouble Talking
Had, Held
Heard
Hit
Jumped
Laughed, Smiled, Cried
Look for, Search for an Object
Looked, Saw, Watched
Movements of Groups
Neutral Movements
Pulled, Pushed, Threw
Put
Reacted to Something
Read, Wrote
Rested, Stopped
Said or Reacted With a Sound
Slow movements
Smelled
Sounds
Stealthy Movements
Tasted, Drank
Took
Touched
Turned
Walk, Ran, Move, Went, Go

I've also added two bonus pages that explains Vivid Verbs and gives students a practice paragraph to highlight all the verbs and then replace them with more vivid verbs.
