What educators are saying

Great resource! This was my first time teaching a graphic novel, and this helped immensely. The slides were engaging to students and had excellent examples. The guided notes with questions provided an opportunity for great discussion about the characteristics of the genre.
This resource is amazing. The look , the work put into it,...it offers so much and it is so well done that I am super happy with my parchase. Thanks a million for sharing your hard work

Description

Teach visual literacy and introduce the graphic novel. This resource is full of engaging lessons and activities for building visual literacy skills. It will also introduce students to the genre of the graphic novel (you don't need to be reading one).

Whether you teach the graphic novel or not, this bundle will give you the opportunity to work on your students’ analytical skills. We spend our days analyzing visual clues and interpreting people’s actions based on those clues. However, when it comes time to actually analyze similar things in a classroom, students seem to think it’s a big old mystery. Working on visual literacy first will help build their confidence.

The mini-lessons will also serve as a great introduction to the graphic novel, whether you read one with your class or not.

What you'll get:

An introductory lesson that includes a collaborative activity

Mini-lessons that focus on the use of images, text, angles, and movement

Multiple opportunities for students to practice their analytical skills

A fun assignment for students to produce their own graphic texts

This resource includes:

  • Detailed lesson plans
  • Editable slideshows to guide your lessons & discussions
  • Editable handouts for students
  • An editable rubric

Your prep for the lesson will quick and easy: Just print the student pages, load the slideshows, and you're ready for the lessons.
