I like to be very clear at the beginning of the school year with my rules and expectations. This letter to the parents and behavior contract helps relay this information to both the students and the parents. Although that does not mean I will have perfect angels in my class, it does mean I can go to parents and administrators with my clear rules in the event of discipline issues.

TIP: The first day of school always involves handing out many sheets of paper, that inevitably get lost in the bottomless pits of student backpacks. By adding a bright color, visual art reference, or other eye-catching flair, students are more liking to notice and keep up with these important documents.
