8th Grade Texas Standards
(7) Expressions, equations, and relationships. The student applies mathematical process standards to use geometry to solve problems. The student is expected to:
(B) use previous knowledge of surface area to make connections to the formulas for lateral and total surface area and determine solutions for problems involving rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, and cylinders.
*Students will click on multiple links to take them to a real world rectangular prism, triangular prism, and cylinder. Students will discover the objects measurements and then use the correct formula to calculate the surface Area of each object.
*Teacher will be able to facilitate technology into the lesson and watch as students stay engaged through the technology.
