What educators are saying

My students enjoyed this resource. I teach kindergarten, so the cardinal page was a little difficult for them. It was a great resource for teaching the Virginia symbols.
I had a hard time finding a Virginia Studies resource I liked for first grade, but this was was perfect!!

Description

This mini unit is a great way to teach students about the state of Virginia and its symbols. Over a week-long period, students will learn what Virginia looks like and about the state flag, tree, and bird. Included in this unit:

-Unit Plan: The 5-day unit plan includes a detailed description of what will be taught each day. Within each lesson there is a materials list, an objective, and step-by-step lesson instructions.

-Activity: Each day students will create a page to go in their Virginia flipbook. Included are the flipbook pages and craft templates (if needed) for each page.

-Follow-Up Worksheets: Each day there are follow-up half-sheets that allow you to extend the learning beyond the initial lesson and activity. (These can be used as formative assessments.) There are answer keys included for each worksheet.
