Description

Would you have deserted Valley Forge?

Students must answer this question as they learn more about Valley Forge, the place that ultimately shaped the Continental Army into a fighting force.

This lesson includes: A PAPER AND DIGITAL VERSION

1. Background reading and questions on Valley Forge (one slide)

2. Two sources to analyze (Secondary source, Hamilton song, and primary source diary entries)

3. An I AM poem template where students create a poem about Valley Forge from a soldier's perspective. This is where they would write about if they want to desert or stay strong. They have to reference the sources they read at least 2 times.

Answer key included.

It is a super fun lesson, the paper version is great because students get very creative with their I Am poems!
